The Far Side Of Money

May 11th 2008 18:29
Money is the most powerful tool in mankind's financial world. It's what builds empires and what sends millions into the depths of ruin and despair. It is the center of having everything and nothing. Money has wrecked marriages, partnerships, families, and any other relationship, both for its abundance and lacking.

This blog will give ideas on how to save and make money. It will also take into consideration on the ever changing society and value of money. Some entries will apply to you others won't. The bottom line is to teach you something about saving and making money in the hard times ahead, and to look at the bright side.

Here's an example of a small way to save money in the USA. The price of a domestic stamp is expected to go up from 41 to 42 cents starting Monday. Here are ways to save. In the US, you still have time to buy the Forever Stamps at 41 cents. Now keep in mind that they will charge the S&H for the order and it may be worth buying 100 stamps for only a dollar more come Monday.

Now here is something to consider...buy over 100 Forever Stamps and save them for at least 5 years. The price of stamps is GOING to GO UP every May by at least one penny. If you can hold on until the price reaches 50 cents or better, you'll save at least $7. The longer the wait the bigger the savings. Don't believe me? Save them for a year, and pay the extra penny on postage until then. If they raise the price, I might actually be onto something. Might not seem like much, but it is an investment that is a sure thing.

Other things this blog will do is explore habits and vices that actually deplete funds faster than you can replace them. From the obvious(gambling, etc) to the subtle(keeping up with the joneses, etc), I'll even focus on the weird(compulsive buying).

Human nature as a whole is everyone's downfall in finances. Inner battles get solved by instant gratification. An example would be a Need vs. a Greed that is solved by instant credit. We need to stop living beyond our needs. Sometimes I will give you a dose of reality to wake you up. I will create scenarios such as...If you were given a chance to start over again, and not have any debts, how would you do it?...and take it from there.

Believe it or not, there are ways to start over financially. The real trick is to ot fall back into the rut as MOST do. I once read that you have to respect money to make money. I never really understood it until I started having respect for money and not blowing it on frivolous vices and habits.

Thus begins a journey about money that is spam-free!
